Designed under the P3 delivery model, this 640,000 sf hospital expansion provides enhanced pediatric care services including emergency, inpatient beds, PICU, imaging, hematology and procedural suites. Women’s services include a high-risk labor and delivery suite with adjacent NICU. Planning and design is focused on maximizing daylight, views and connections to outdoor spaces. Expressions of biophilic design engage the senses, connecting to positive, personal memories of joy experienced within the abundant natural beauty of British Columbia. Changing seasons, shifting light, mountain forests, streams and the rich coastal sea life of the nearby ocean waters create reference moments to guide visitors with a sense of discovery and wonder.
